Enterprise Rent-a-Car Will Offer Carbon Offset Option, and Match Your Purchase
Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 08:47AM Travel is inevitable sometimes, especially for business. A new initiative from Enterprise Rent-A-Car is making the business trip by car a little greener, actually carbon neutral. Enterprise has teamed up with TerraPass to help customers offset their car rental. This is a huge step - the Enterprise fleet is over a million autos. What’s more is that Enterprise will match the carbon offsets purchased by customers dollar for dollar (up to $1 million).
The idea is not without its irony of course. Offsetting car rental is theoretically like taking cars off the road, the exact opposite of what the nation’s largest car-rental company does. They like ‘em fueled and running. But the move just acknowledges the need for businesses to find a greener path to their bottom line.
What do you think of carbon offsets? Would you pay an extra buck to offset your car rental?
